OTIONOS offers marine ecology courses and programs for the inquisitive to the serious marine enthusiast. Our Marine research capabilities are reflected in the diversity of our previous projects, academic achievements, global awareness and scientific reports. Our awareness and expertise are wide ranging and our enthusiasm is contagious. We accommodate marine biology students and all like-minded individuals - providing volunteer opportunities, internships, and local education - all the while tackling on-the-ground marine conservation issues.
OTIONOS has initiated a variety of much needed marine research conservation projects worldwide from an online monitoring system for tanker anchorage on the Island of St Eustatius to designing fishery monitoring protocol in El Salvador. From teaching volunteer researchers to perform Coral Reef Surveys in Mexico to Launching a Humpback Whale population eco tourism funded study in Mozambique. We always hope to involve the local community as much possible for acceptance and sustainability, while providing practical training and involvement for local students, volunteer research assistants and interns. As marine Scientists we will be actively searching for available funding to support local conservation initiatives.
OTIONOS is a useful resource providing on-the-ground expertise, equipment and man power to assist local environmental organisations in marine management strategies. As marine consultants, we can collect and present the necessary scientific data needed to make sound managerial decisions for conservation effect. We are experienced in marine park management and the issues that need to be considered for it to be successful. We believe in the holistic approach - engaging local people, dive operators, academia, NGOs and government in making resource managerial decisions. We are also able to provide practical expertise in underwater photography, dive mooring installation, Environmental Impact Assessments and marine equipment maintenance and servicing.
